During the NCAA championships, McBride finished second in the 800m behind Texas A&M’s Donavan Brazier, who set a NCAA record. Brazier ran in the U.S. track and field trials and finished 16th overall in the opening heat, failing to advance out of the opening round.
McBride obviously is not likely a medal candidate in Rio. But getting to the Olympics is surely the achievement of a lifetime and a huge honor for the Mississippi State senior.
