“The Hump” is getting a makeover.
Mississippi State unveiled the court design for Humphrey Coliseum on Monday, which features several new additions, including softer wood and different toned wood stains, according to the university press release.
Also included in the new design will be all 82 counties in Mississippi listed on the outside of the court. Starkville’s nickname, “Starkvegas,” will also be on display in front of the student section’s baseline.
“One of the things we’re really proud of here is that we’re the state school of Mississippi,” Athletic Director Scott Stricklin said in the press release. “With this new court and new design, we felt like we had an opportunity to showcase the state and city we have so much pride in, and I’m pleased with what our staff designed to highlight Starkville and the entire state of Mississippi.”
Installation of the court has been finished and the final details are being applied this week, according to the press release.
The Bulldogs finished 14-17 in 2015, Ben Howland’s first season in Starkville. The Bulldogs brought in the nation’s No. 9 recruiting class last season, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.
