Nobody saw this coming.
The Mississippi State women’s basketball team did the impossible this spring when it knocked off juggernaut Connecticut in the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament 66-64, snapping the Huskies’ 111-game winning streak.
For the shocking result, the MSU women’s basketball team was awarded with the ESPY for “Best Upset” on Wednesday night at the ESPN awards show.
Morgan William hit the game-winning shot in overtime to lift the Bulldogs to the triumph, which was recognized at the Los Angeles ceremony.
Also up for the award were Clemson, for beating Alabama in the national championship game, and tennis player Denis Istomin, who beat six-time champion Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open.
The Bulldogs were 20.5-point underdogs against Connecticut.
One of the most EPIC upsets in sports history!
