Mississippi State was a big play machine on Saturday against Troy, and no play was more impressive than sophomore wide receiver Donald Gray’s touchdown catch.
With a big lead, freshman quarterback Nick Fitzgerald was under center instead of Dak Prescott. Fitzgerald threw a bomb to Gray in the end zone, where the sophomore out-jumped the Troy defender to haul in a score.
The touchdown was Gray’s second of the season. He had two catches, 58 yards and a touchdown against Troy. In addition to Gray’s incredible touchdown catch, Mississippi State had two other touchdowns from scrimmage at least 55 yards long. The Bulldogs also had a punt return for a touchdown-sack and fumble recovered for a score in the 45-17 victory.
