Mississippi State wide receiver Donald Gray’s reaction was priceless when asked about the Bulldogs’ record-setting offensive performance in a 56-41 win over Samford on Saturday.
Mississippi State racked up a school-record 669 yards of total offense at Davis Wade Stadium. When Gray was asked about the performance, he shed tears of joy.

“What did we have?” Gray asked the reporter before pausing for a moment. “I’m sorry, tears. Umm, it was great to be a part of it. I can’t stop smiling. It just hit me. I’m glad we were able to do something like that.”
Against Samford, Gray had 4 receptions for 207 yards and 3 touchdowns — including a 74-yard score. That helped add to the great day of Mississippi State quarterback Nick Fitzgerald, who went 20 of 35 for 417 yards with 5 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Fitzgerald also had 119 yards rushing with 2 touchdowns on 19 carries.
Gray and Mississippi State will look to carry the offensive momentum from Saturday over to next week when the Bulldogs host Texas A&M.
