Mississippi State held a press conference Monday afternoon to provide more details regarding the death of junior Andrew Scott Demboski, who accidentally fell from the Davis Wade Stadium scoreboard early Saturday morning.
School officials confirmed that Demboski and two other students climbed over a fence to gain access to the scoreboard, according to The Clarion-Ledger’s Michael Bonner. After hopping the fence, the students reached the jumbotron through a service door that is supposed to be locked, per Bonner.
Officials said Demboski fell through a platform that couldn’t hold his weight, and first responders had a difficult time reaching him because he was still in the scoreboard, according to Bonner.
The two other students have not been charged, but Bonner reported the university will prosecute any further incidents.
The incident is still being investigated.
