Welcome to More Cowbell, SEC Country’s daily podcast about Mississippi State sports with host Brandon Walker.
Jalen Mayden is a 4-star quarterback from Sachse, Texas, and he has offers from schools across the country. He also might be the next in Dan Mullen’s impressive line of quarterbacks in Starkville. Mayden will reportedly make his college destination known with an announcement Tuesday night, and MSU remains in contention to secure his commitment. What would a verbal pledge from one of the country’s top dual-threat quarterbacks mean for MSU? It would mean that Mullen’s ever-growing quarterback legacy would continue to bloom, as he would be adding a 4-star QB for a second-straight season. It would also give MSU its cornerstone prospect for the 2018 recruiting class, a class that continues to take shape early in the process. We also delve more into Mayden’s background, as his leadership abilities and bloodlines make him the perfect fit for Mullen’s program.
Elsewhere, Athlon published its positional rankings for the SEC on Tuesday morning, and MSU received very little respect across the board. We break that list down and discuss the SEC baseball tournament on today’s edition of More Cowbell.
