Welcome to More Cowbell, SEC Country’s daily podcast about Mississippi State sports with host Brandon Walker.
Later this week, an event will be held somewhere in Starkville. The event, organized by a small group of Mississippi State fans, will serve as a eulogy for the current rigs in MSU’s famed Left Field Lounge, a form of protest against the MSU administration’s decision to phase out the rigs as Dudy Noble Field evolves into its newest iteration next year. More Cowbell host Brandon Walker has opinions about this event and the mindset behind it, and he shares that view on today’s show.
Elsewhere, Brent Rooker is having a monster season, leading the SEC in all three triple crown categories. He will almost certainly be named the SEC Player of the Year and should be in contention for national awards. Brandon dives into the numbers to determine just how historic Rooker’s season has been.
Dan Mullen was on the SEC spring teleconference on Monday, and he shared some concerns, namely kicker.
“Coming out of spring, it’s not a position we’re comfortable in right now,” Mullen said. “But we still have a ways to go to get to our first game to get comfortable and see where we’re at.”
The kicking game has been a concern for several years, but 2017 might be the most dire kicking situation yet in Starkville.
