Mississippi State’s basketball team is back in the news. Recently, 4-star MSU signee Garrison Brooks made headlines when he requested a release from his National Letter of Intent, which he signed in November of 2016. Brooks, a 6-foot-8 forward from Auburn, Alabama, is the son of George Brooks, an assistant coach on Ben Howland’s coaching staff at Mississippi State.
This morning, a week after the younger Brooks requested his release, reports began to circulate that Howland chose to deny the release. While this could result in bad PR for MSU, the basketball ramifications are more important. Additionally, what can we make out of a situation where so much seems to be happening behind the scenes?
On today’s More Cowbell podcast, host Brandon Walker takes a look at the decision by MSU and what it could mean for the program.
Elsewhere, Brandon looks forward to the 2017 football season, and wonders how many Bulldogs might end up on preseason All-SEC teams when these things are decided.
