Podcast: Mullen’s reputation as a QB developer continues too grow
Welcome to More Cowbell, SEC Country’s daily podcast about Mississippi State sports with Brandon Walker.
When you take a look at each coach in the Southeastern Conference, where does Dan Mullen stand as a developer of quarterbacks. While Mullen’s name has been soaring this offseason as the second-best coach in the SEC, it can be argued that he is at the top of the heap when it comes to coaching the most important position on the field. One NFL scout recently compared Mullen to Auburn coach Gus Malzahn and considered the NFL future of current MSU quarterback Nick Fitzgerald, with both Mullen and Fitzgerald drawing rave reviews.
Elsewhere, MSU’s baseball team got off to a disappointing start this weekend with a series-opening 3-1 loss to LSU Thursday night. MSU has bounced back and fought through adversity time and time again this season, and that opportunity has once again presented itself. MSU is now on the outside looking in as far as SEC championship hopes go, but the Bulldogs can still tie for the SEC West title and secure a hosting bid in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
