Replacing Dak Prescott is no easy task, but that’s the burden that’s been put on Mississippi State quarterback Nick Fitzgerald’s shoulders.
Things haven’t always been smooth — the Bulldogs are just 4-5 — but the team is getting better as the season goes along, as we saw last Saturday when they upset fourth-ranked Texas A&M. Fitzgerald’s play has been a big reason for that. He’s proven a weapon with both his arm and his legs, as he’s thrown for 1,705 yards and 16 touchdowns to go along with 839 yards and 8 TDs on the ground.
This past week, he did something Prescott never did. In fact, no Mississippi State player — let alone quarterback — has done it since 1970:

Fitzgerald will look to keep that streak going this weekend, though it will be tough, as the Bulldogs head to Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama.
