Mississippi State has landed a commitment from 2016 weak-side defensive end Marquiss Spencer, according to Varsity Preps’ Demetric D. Warren.
Spencer, a 3-star prospect, is the No. 11 player in the state of Mississippi and the No. 25 weak-side defensive end in the nation.
Spencer held offers from Mississippi State and Southern Miss, and also generated interest from Alabama and Ole Miss.
He took an unofficial visit to Mississippi State on Sept. 12 after attending the university’s camp over the summer.
Spencer was originally a 2017 prospect, but he reclassified to the 2016 class after earning enough credits to enroll as a senior at Greenwood High School (Miss.).
Spencer is the Bulldogs’ 16th commitment in their 2016 recruiting class. All 16 commits are 3-star prospects.
