Chris Boniol, a Louisiana Tech graduate and retired NFL placekicker, has accepted the special teams quality control job at Mississippi State, according to FootballScoop.com.
A former player with the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears, Boniol started his coaching career in 2010 as the assistant special teams coach for the Cowboys. He spent four seasons on Dallas’ staff before taking the same position with the Oakland Raiders in 2014.
Last year, he returned to the college ranks as Louisiana College’s special teams coach.
Boniol left Louisiana Tech third all-time on the school’s scoring list. He made 128 of 163 field goal attempts in the NFL and helped the Cowboys to a victory in Super Bowl XXX.
