Mississippi State has added a strong nonconference opponent to its men’s basketball schedule for the 2018-19 season.
The Bulldogs will face Clemson in the 2018 Never Forget Games in Newark, N.J., according to Jon Rothstein of FanRagSports.
The games will be played at the Prudential Center on Dec. 8 as part of the third annual Never Forget Games. The other matchup in the showcase will be UConn against Florida State.
The Bulldogs reached the NIT Final Four in 2018 and will be looking to build on that success and reach the NCAA Tournament in 2019.
Ben Howland and the Bulldogs return all six of their leading scorers, and a neutral-site game against Clemson, which finished fourth in the ACC and made the Sweet 16 last season, could be a great look in the eyes of the selection committee.
The tipoff time for the Bulldogs-Tigers matchup will be announced at a later date.
The Never Forget Games partners with the Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund, which works to support education of children of the victims of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
