East Mississippi Community College offensive guard Tyre Phillips has committed to Mississippi State, Paul Jones of 247Sports reported.
Phillips, a 6-foot-6, 350-pound prospect from Scooba, Miss., will be joining the Bulldogs for the 2017 season. He does not have a 247Sports star rating.
“I’ve always wanted to play for Mississippi State ever since last year,” Phillips told 247Sports. “I grew up a fan of Mississippi football and I rooted for both Mississippi State and Ole Miss. But I went to my first Mississippi State game last year and it was so live in the stadium and it was an unreal atmosphere. I saw right then that it was something I wanted to be part of and I wanted to be on the field with them. And now I will be next year.”
Phillips is slated to be East Mississippi Community College’s starting right tackle this season, 247Sports reported.
Mississippi State’s recruiting class is currently ranked 17th in the country by 247Sports.
