Shaq Wiggins seemed to end his recruiting process when he announced his commitment to Tennessee in April. But it looks like his recruitment is far from over.
Will Sammon of the The Clarion-Ledger reported that Wiggins visited Mississippi State on Sunday. Per Sammon’s report, sources close to the school “feel good about the Bulldogs’ chances of Wiggins ending up in Starkville because of his relationship with defensive coordinator Todd Grantham.”

Wiggins was first recruited to Georgia by Grantham, and he signed with the Bulldogs out of high school. After Wiggins’ freshman year, he followed Grantham to Louisville. And with Grantham departing Louisville to take a job with Mississippi State this offseason (Bulldogs defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon actually took Grantham’s old position at Louisville) there’s a very real connection, and chance, for Mississippi State to flip Wiggins.
While Tennessee plays Georgia in Knoxville, Tenn., this year, Mississippi State actually plays Georgia in Athens, Ga., on Sept. 23. Wiggins was a 4-star recruit coming out of high school, and the fourth-highest rated signee in Georgia’s 2013 recruiting class, per the 247Sports composite rankings.
