It’s hard to imagine emotions running higher than they were in the Mississippi State locker room late Saturday. The Bulldogs erased an 11-point lead with 13 fourth-quarter points only to fall behind again late.
A 14-yard pass from quarterback Dak Prescott to receiver Fred Ross with 3:05 to play regained that lead and a blocked field goal in the waning seconds secured a 51-50 roller-coaster win.
Of course coach Dan Mullen had some heart-felt words for his team:
“I told you guys I loved you before the game,” said Mullen. “I loved the way you played tonight.”
That’s when Mullen became run-over with emotions. He tried to get a few words out … couldn’t, then tried again. He gave up putting a voice to his feelings with a final “Wow” and then did what just about any 43-year-old man does when he’s so happy he can’t talk.
Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen and the Bulldogs celebrate in the locker room after a thrilling 51-50 win over Arkansas.
Mullen did his best “Dab” to the delight of every player in the room.
