The defending SEC Champion Mississippi State Bulldogs have a new head coach, and today he got the chance to introduce himself to his players.
Former LSU hitting coach Andy Cannizaro was named the head man at Mississippi State over the weekend, and today he got his first opportunity to speak in front of his new players. Cannizaro, a former All-American at Tulane and infielder with the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays, is replacing John Cohen as Mississippi State’s head coach. Cohen was recently promoted to athletic director, and hiring Cannizaro as his replacement is his first official move in that capacity.
The Bulldogs are coming off one of the best seasons in program history, in which they not only won the SEC, but advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals with a final record of 44-18-1. Cannizaro is taking over a program built to win now, and today he got the chance to show his players how excited he is about that opportunity:
