Not only did Mississippi State have a strong first half against LSU on Saturday, but Nick Fitgerald made some history along the way.
Fitzgerald scored a pair of rushing touchdowns to help the Bulldogs build a 17-7 lead over the Tigers by halftime. In doing so, the junior quarterback moved into second on Mississippi State’s career touchdowns list, scoring the 52nd and 53rd touchdowns of his career.
Dak Prescott holds the school’s record with 111 touchdowns, while Fitzgerald passed Don Smith (52) on Saturday.
Here’s a clip of Fitzgerald’s second TD that moved him into second place in school history:

Through the first half of the game Saturday, Fitzgerald has 5 passing touchdowns and 5 rushing touchdowns this season. Last year, he passed for 21 and scored another 16 on the ground.
With still most of this season to go (and potentially next year as well), it’s possible Fitzgerald could eventually pass Prescott for first in school history.
