Here’s an interesting idea that’s sure to create interest among Ole Miss and Mississippi State fans.
The Clarion-Ledger’s Will Sammon published a fascinating post Thursday that takes a closer look at which Ole Miss players would help Mississippi State the most this season. It just so happens that the Ole Miss-Mississippi State rivalry is one of the hottest things going in the SEC. So the thought of any Rebels player slipping on a Bulldogs jersey is something else.
Take a glance at the entire post for Sammon’s explanations for his selections. But he chooses wide receivers A.J. Brown and D.K. Metcalf as well as guard Javon Patterson, center Sean Rawlings and kicker Gary Wunderlich as the Ole Miss players who “Mississippi State would want to add to its current roster.”
Count on the Egg Bowl being contentious again this season, especially with the recent offseason developments in Oxford that have made the Rebels’ future cloudy at best.
Both teams have something to prove in the coming months. The Rebels are coming off a 5-7 year, and the Bulldogs finished 6-7 in 2016 with a victory over Miami (Ohio) in the St. Petersburg Bowl.
