Ole Miss got a boost to the defensive side of its 2018 recruiting class on Wednesday.
JaKorey Hawkins, a 3-star cornerback from Montgomery, Ala., announced on Twitter that he has committed to the Rebels. Hawskins also had offers from Auburn, Missouri, South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Kentucky and LSU, among others.

Hawkins, who plays at Robert E. Lee High School, is the No. 67 cornerback in the 2018 class, according to the 247sports composite rankings. He is also the No. 31 recruit from Alabama.
Prior to Hawkins’ commitment, Ole Miss had the No. 83-ranked 2018 class in the nation, per the 247sports rankings. The Rebels have no 4- or 5-star recruits in the class, while Hawkins is their 10th 3-star commit.
Hawkins is currently the only 2018 cornerback committed to the Rebels.
Ole Miss has taken a hit in recruiting due to the NCAA investigation into illegal tactics that led to former coach Hugh Freeze resigning and a self-imposed bowl ban.
