Could there be a Kiffin family reunion in Boca Raton, Fla.? It appears new FAU coach Lane Kiffin is looking to hire his brother, Chris Kiffin, who coaches defensive line at Ole Miss.
According to a report from Ole Miss reporter Parrish Alford, Chris Kiffin has received an offer to become the defensive coordinator for his brother at FAU.
If the brothers get along, it seems like it might be a hard deal to pass up for the Ole Miss assistant. Chris Kiffin followed Rebels coach Hugh Freeze to Oxford back in 2011 after spending the previous season at Arkansas State coaching the defensive line for Freeze.
With Ole Miss looking for a new defensive coordinator of its own, and Chris Kiffin, who also serves as recruiting coordinator, is not rumored to be in the mix. That could make it an attractive opportunity for the younger Kiffin brother to jump ship.
Lane Kiffin, who will continue to serve as the Alabama offensive coordinator through the completion of the College Football Playoff, was introduced as the new Owls head coach on Tuesday.
It would not be the first time that the Kiffin family got the band together on a coaching staff, as Lane brought his father Monte along as his defensive coordinator during head coaching stops at Tennessee and USC.
