Rick Carone, a standout catcher for Ole Miss in 1993, died on Thursday at the age of 45 after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Carone played for the Rebels in 1993 and was then drafted by the Chicago White Sox. He played for the organization for four seasons.
Ole Miss has been supportive of Carone’s fight against the Stage IV pancreatic cancer, encouraging fans to donate and send private messages to his site.
After learning of Carone’s death, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network also Tweeted its condolences.
