Laremy Tunsil was once projected to be taken No. 1 overall. Now, it’s uncertain whether Tunsil will be taken within the top 10 of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Tunsil didn’t do himself any favors when a video of him smoking out of a bong was posted and immediately deleted from his Twitter account.
Tunsil has fallen past the first eight picks in the draft. It was expected that Tunsil wouldn’t be taken in the top two after the Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles traded up for the first and second overall picks, respectively.
But the San Diego Chargers balked and took Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa. The Dallas Cowboys, who had no need for an offensive lineman, went with fellow Buckeye Ezekiel Elliott at No. 4. The Baltimore Ravens took Notre Dame offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley over Tunsil. Apparently, the video was enough to sway Baltimore, as a report suggests the Ravens took Tunsil off of their board entirely after the video surfaced.
It didn’t end there. The San Francisco 49ers, who could’ve used an offensive tackle, opted to take Oregon defensive end DeForest Buckner with the seventh pick.
The Tennessee Titans, who had traded down from No. 1, traded back into the top 10 and many thought Tunsil would be the pick. Instead, the Titans opted to take the third-best offensive tackle, Michigan State’s Jack Conklin.
The night could get even uglier for the star left tackle. The New York Giants may be Tunsil’s final safety net at No. 10. The Giants have a glaring need along the offensive line and reportedly plan to take an offensive tackle.
