Former Ole Miss players deny taking money after latest Laremy Tunsil report
If Laremy Tunsil did receive any money at Ole Miss, his former teammates are making it known he was the only one who did.
Daniel Paulling of the Clarion-Ledger interviewed four former Ole Miss football players—defensive tackle Lavon Hooks, defensive Channing Ward, safety Trae Elston and offensive tackle Fahn Cooper— about taking any money during from Hugh Freeze and his staff at Ole Miss.
All four said they received no money.
The four, like Tunsil, were all highly recruited as well. Ward was a 5-star recruit, while Elston fielded offers from Alabama and LSU out of high school.
In a recent interview with Pete Thamel of Sports Illustrated, Tunsil’s stepfather Lindsey Miller further detailed some of the alleged benefits Tunsil and his family took while at Ole Miss. The lawyer for Tunsil’s mother denied the allegations.
At the NFL draft, Tunsil said that he did receive money while he was at Ole Miss.
“He said it himself, so I’m not going to say he’s lying about it,” Ward said. “If he said it happened, it happened. I just hated it happened to him. He’s a great guy.”
