The Ole Miss football community lost a respected member Monday, as former running back, assistant coach and administrator Billy Mustin died at the age of 87, the school announced.
Mustin played for the Rebels from 1946-49 as a halfback in the single wing and “T” formations.
After his playing days were over, Mustin joined legendary coach Johnny Vaught’s staff in 1963. He also worked at the athletic department’s Loyalty Foundation for 12 years, including 10 years as the director of the organization. Since retiring from the Loyalty Foundation in 1985, Mustin has resided in Oxford, Miss.
Mustin was inducted into the Ole Miss Sports Hall of Fame in 1987.
