Remember how Cincinnati Reds shortstop Zack Cozart, a former Ole Miss standout, was promised a donkey by teammate Joey Votto for making his first career MLB All-Star Game? Well, it’s time for Cozart to start preparing for his new pet.
While it wasn’t the newest member of the Cozart family at Great American Ball Park on Saturday afternoon, the Reds did bring a donkey to the stadium for Cozart to become acquainted with, sharing pictures of the experience on Twitter.

MLB.com’s Mark Sheldon reported that Cozart will be receiving his new donkey pet in the future, but that the donkey is currently still in “training.”
Before Cozart receives his new pet, the Reds are taking suggestions for the donkey’s name. Fans can send their suggestions to firstname.lastname@example.org through July 31.
Cozart started for the National League in the All-Star Game, going 1-for-2. He has had a standout season for the Reds, entering Saturday batting .311 with nine homers and 35 RBIs.
