Florida State QB Sean Maguire was back on the field at practice Friday, according to the Associated Press, though his status for the team’s opener against Ole Miss is still uncertain.
Maguire took the field with the third-team offense, Tomahawk Nation’s David Visser reports. Head coach Jimbo Fisher has named redshirt freshman Deondre Francois the starter for the game against the Rebels in Orlando, Fla.
Fisher said the senior quarterback would miss three to four weeks when he injured his foot Aug. 11. Maguire had surgery to put a screw in his foot on Aug. 15.
Maguire took over the starting job in 2015 after Everett Golson suffered a concussion against Georgia Tech. He threw for 1,520 yards with 11 touchdowns and six interceptions while playing in eight games.
