This is a public service announcement to all SEC baseball players in Hoover, Ala. this week: Stay away from the players’ lounge, lest you face the fate of Ole Miss infielder Grae Kessinger.
Kessinger made news at the SEC baseball tournament for a reason he never could have envisioned prior to Tuesday, when he suffered a foot injury that will keep him out for the remainder of the season.
Ole Miss baseball released a statement explaining that Kessinger had suffered a “freak accident” while playing ping pong in the players lounge. The result was a fractured foot.
Here’s a look at the bizarre release, courtesy of Rebels beat reporter Davis Potter:

Kessinger was named as the No. 5 freshman prospect in the nation entering the season, but hit just .175 in 55 games for the Rebels.
