Ole Miss is 3-0 without one of its best players, but that doesn’t mean the Rebels wouldn’t love to have NFL-caliber offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil back at left tackle.
Coach Hugh Freeze said during his press conference Monday that he has asked the NCAA for an update on Tunsil’s status. Freeze is hopeful to hear back sometime this week.
The NCAA is investigating a report from Tunsil’s stepfather, Lindsey Miller, that the tackle was seen in cars with agents and accepted impermissible gifts from agents and officials at Ole Miss, according to ESPN’s Chris Low. Tunsil also reportedly kept a rental car for longer than expected before returning it, and the NCAA is considering it an extra benefit.
In May, ESPN’s Mel Kiper ranked Tunsil as the second-best college prospect projected to enter the 2016 NFL Draft.
