Hugh Freeze resigning last week was the biggest domino to fall in the variety of turmoil surrounding the Ole Miss football program. But it wasn’t the last.
There is still much to come from an NCAA investigation into Ole Miss and now a lawsuit from former Rebels coach Houston Nutt.
And according to Chuck Rounsaville of the Ole Miss Spirit, Freeze’s resignation does not preclude him from having to attend hearings related to the NCAA investigation.
Some have asked if Hugh Freeze will still go to NCAA COI hearing since he is not the Reb head coach now. The answer is yes.

The Committee on Infractions will hear from Freeze and the higher ups in the Rebels athletic department. Given that Freeze is now the former head coach of the Rebels, Ole Miss officials could try to pin the brunt of the blame on him for many of the violations committed. However, that could have a counter-effect, in turn making the Rebels program look even worse.
So, Freeze is out as head coach in Oxford, but he’s still very much a key figure in the NCAA’s investigation. And the dominoes will continue to fall.
