Former Ole Miss safety Anthony Alford will be making his major league debut soon. In baseball.
Alford received a call-up to the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday, likely filling in while Kevin Pillar serves a two-game suspension. The Rebels football program took time to congratulate Alford on the accomplishment.

Alford, the No. 3 prospect in the Blue Jays organization, spent the first part of the season playing for Double-A New Hampshire, where hit .325 with 3 home runs and 11 RBIs. He has stolen 11 bases.
After seeing limited action on the football field for Ole Miss in 2014, Alford left the program to focus on baseball. He was a third-round pick in the 2013 MLB Draft.
