Ole Miss basketball has reportedly dismissed freshman forward Nate Morris after his second arrest in two months.
The Clarion-Ledger’s Antonio Morales reports Morris, 19, was arrested Tuesday night on charges of speeding and driving with a suspended license. He was arrested Nov. 13 on speeding and DUI charges. He served an 8-game suspension to start the season because of the first incident.
“We have a standard that we expect the members of our team to meet. Nate failed to adhere to those standards,” Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy said of the dismissal.
Morris played against Georgia the day after the arrest. He had two rebounds and a block in a 69-47 loss to the Bulldogs.
A true freshman, Morris had not scored a basket this season. He had seven rebounds and three blocks in seven games of action.
Morris was a 3-star recruit and the No. 13 overall prospect in the state of Texas in the class of 2016, as ranked by 247Sports.
