Still overwhelmed with joy, Ole Miss fans?
You’re forgiven, if so. The Rebels’ comeback victory against Texas A&M on Saturday at Kyle Field was equal parts surprising and incredible. Ole Miss looked primed to lose its fourth game in its past five contests when it trailed 21-6 going into the fourth quarter.
Instead, the Rebels rallied late, outscoring the Aggies 23-7 in the final quarter to win 29-28 after kicker Gary Wunderlich made a 39-yard field goal with 37 seconds left. Ole Miss improved to 5-5 overall and 2-4 in the SEC with the result.
As you would expect, there were some amazing radio calls on Ole Miss’ end that captured the drama and excitement of the moment. Rebels play-by-play announcer David Kellum wasn’t short on things to talk and scream about in the fourth quarter, highlighted by that game-winning kick.
“Here’s the kick,” Kellum said when describing the action. “He’s got the distance. It’s on it’s way. And it’s good! Gary Wunderlich does it again! And the Rebels have taken a 29-28 lead with 37 seconds left to play!”
