Ole Miss has picked up a commitment from 2018 prospect Scott Phillips out of Jones County Community College in Ellisville, Miss.
“Coach (Derrick) Nix reached out in late May,” Phillips told The Clarion-Ledger. “He called me and told me he had looked at my film. He thought I was a really good back and he said I could do great things at Ole Miss.”
Phillips was a force on the field in 2016, rushing for 1,112 yards, good for 123.6 yards per game, and being named an NJCAA All-American.
He will likely enroll in January, and expects to make an impact right away.
“I know I’m going to have to come in and compete for a job,” Phillips said. “Nix said he loves my running style. They already have an electrifying offense. I feel like I’ll be another asset. I can catch the ball out of the backfield, I run downhill and I feel like I’ll be a great asset to balance out the running and passing game at Ole Miss.”
