Ole Miss’ DB Trae Elston cleared to play against Texas A&M
Ole Miss has been bitten by the injury bug multiple times this season, but Wednesday was a positive development on that front.
Coach Hugh Freeze said safety Trae Elston has passed his concussion tests and is cleared to play Saturday against Texas A&M, according to Ben Garrett of the Ole Miss Spirit. Elston is one of four Rebels going through concussion protocol this week.
Defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche will go through his final tests Thursday. No update was given on punter Will Gleeson or backup linebacker Tayler Polk.
Freeze also said defensive back Tony Conner, who is recovering from a torn meniscus, would not play this weekend against the Aggies, according to Daniel Paulling of the Clarion-Ledger.
Linebacker C.J. Johnson, who is also recovering from a torn meniscus, has practiced this week, and he tweeted that things were “looking good” for the senior to return to action Saturday.
