The vaunted “land-shark” defense at Ole Miss took a hit on Tuesday when it was announced that senior defensive tackle Issac Gross would have season-ending neck surgery.
Gross played in the Rebels’ 76-3 victory over UT-Martin but plans to take a redshirt this season and return for a fifth year at Ole Miss, according to reports.
The defensive tackle started six games for Ole Miss last season and earned a reputation as an underrated, yet important part of the nation’s No. 1 scoring defense.
Issac Gross out for the season, per UM release. He will have surgery on his neck. He will redshirt and return for a fifth year at Ole Miss.

Issac Gross is a big loss for Ole Miss. One SEC coach told Athlon in August that “he was the best nose tackle we played last year.”
