Ole Miss drops out of College Football Playoff rankings
Following a heartbreaking loss against Arkansas this past Saturday, Ole Miss (7-3, 4-2 SEC) fell out of the College Football Playoff rankings that were announced Tuesday.
The loss ended any hopes for the Rebels, who were ranked No. 18 in last week’s rankings, to get back into the Playoff conversation, but there’s still an outside shot Ole Miss could win the SEC West.
If Alabama loses on the road against Mississippi State Saturday, the Rebels would win the division with wins over LSU (Nov. 21) and Mississippi State (Nov. 28).
Ole Miss would certainly get a bump in the rankings and have a chance to elevate its status in the bowl pecking order with two rivalry wins to close out the the regular season, but the Rebels will have to find some consistency to think that’s a realistic possibility.
Ole Miss also fell out of both the Associated Press and Amway Coaches polls.
Here’s this week’s rankings:
- Ohio State
- Notre Dame
- Oklahoma State
- Michigan State
- Florida State
- Mississippi State
- North Carolina
