With his pro day in the rearview mirror, the leg work leading up to the 2016 NFL Draft has just begun for former Ole Miss defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche.
Alex Marvez of FOX Sports reported on Wednesday that Nkemdiche has private visits set up with 16 NFL teams prior to the draft, which begins April 28. That’s 16 visits in 29 days.
His first visit will be with the Denver Broncos, Nkemdiche told Ben Garrett of the Ole Miss Spirit.
Nkemdiche is one of the more puzzling prospects in the draft. His athleticism was on display during his three years at Ole Miss, as well at his performances at the NFL combine and at his pro day Monday, but off-field issues have resulted in his stock dropping.
With a perfect record, he’s likely a top-10 pick because of the way he can move. Instead, most projections have him going late in the first round, but some have him dropping to the second round. There will be plenty of questions regarding his fall from a window of an Atlanta hotel in December, his relationship with brother, Denzel, and his love for the game.
Nkemdiche tried to ease some of those concerns on Monday, and it’s obvious he’ll have plenty of opportunities to convince one team to take a chance on him with a first-round pick in April.
