Ole Miss LB Denzel Nkemdiche questionable to play against LSU for “personal matter”
Ole Miss senior linebacker Denzel Nkemdiche is questionable for Saturday’s game against No. 15 LSU because of a “personal matter,” coach Hugh Freeze told reporters following Wednesday’s practice, according to Ben Garrett of the Ole Miss Spirit.
Rumors began to swirl Wednesday afternoon about Nkemdiche’s playing status, and Freeze confirmed Nkemdiche’s status is in limbo for Saturday’s contest, which happens to be Senior Day for No. 22 Ole Miss.
Missing Nkemdiche would be a big hit for a linebacker corps that lacks depth.
Nkemdiche, who was listed as a co-starter on Ole Miss’ depth chart this week, has a team-high 53 tackles in addition to 6.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks. If Nkemdiche does miss Saturday, expect sophomore DeMarquis Gates to get a lot more playing time at outside linebacker this week.
