OXFORD, Miss. — Chad Kelly’s much-anticipated appearance at Ole Miss pro day was cut short by an apparent injury on Monday.
The former Ole Miss quarterback, who is recovering from tearing an ACL last November, had reportedly been cleared to participate in a 35-to-45-play scripted throwing session in front of NFL scouts. But after attempting 10-20 passes, Kelly was seen walking off the field with trainers.
UPDATE: Kelly aggravated his throwing wrist, a school spokesman confirmed, and will not resume his pro day throwing session.
Monday marked Kelly’s first time throwing in public since the Rebels’ win over Georgia Southern.
In February, Kelly had his NFL combine invitation rescinded by the league because of prior off-field misconduct, which included a publicized arrest in Buffalo. That decision left Ole Miss pro day as his biggest chance to impress scouts.
