Ole Miss has released a statement on why junior running back Jordan Wilkins has been deemed academically ineligible for the 2016 season.
And the reason for it is because of an administrative issue on Ole Miss’ end.
“Jordan Wilkins will miss the 2016 regular season after not meeting standards for progress toward degree. An appeal was filed with the NCAA for Jordan’s reinstatement based on an administrative error but was denied this week. The athletics department takes full responsibility and holds itself accountable when situations like this occur with our student-athletes. We will support Jordan to the fullest during this time and look forward to seeing him return to the field,” per the release.
Wilkins rushed for 372 yards last season and four touchdowns. He was expected to compete for the starting running back job for Ole Miss. Wilkins is a redshirt junior.
