Ole Miss star Robert Nkemdiche charged with marijuana possession
Ole Miss star defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche has been charged with possession of marijuana after falling from the fourth-floor window of an Atlanta area hotel this weekend, according to a police report obtained by AJC.com.
After police began investigating the incident, an officer discovered “approximately (seven) rolled marijuana cigarettes, rolled in Cigarillo Blunt papers” in Nkemdiche’s Grand Hyatt Atlanta hotel room, according to the report. The room is also described as being in “complete disarray.”
A police investigator was able to connect the marijuana to Nkemdiche.
“Inv. Kornbacher was able to create a nexus between the room and Mr. Nkemdiche, thus linking him to the marijuana,” the report read.
Atlanta police responded to the initial incident on Saturday night. When the officers arrived, Nkemdiche was conscious and breathing, and then was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
According to the police report, Nkemdiche broke the window and walked a short distance before climbing over a wall and falling “approximately 15 feet.”
The report states that none of Nkemdiche’s friends knew how the Ole Miss standout fell to the floor.
Nkemdiche is considered a top-five pick in the 2016 NFL Draft should he opt to forego his final year of eligibility at Ole Miss.
The defensive lineman was the nation’s top recruit coming out Grayson High School (Loganville, Ga.). On Sunday, he was named a Second-Team AP All-American.
