Ole Miss stays at No. 5 in SEC Country Power Rankings
Despite a 52-3 victory over New Mexico State on Saturday, Ole Miss stayed at No. 5 in the SEC Country Power Poll. Staying at the same spot after destroying a weak opponent is, of course, much prefered to losing by double digits and dropping in the SEC Country Power Poll for Rebels fans. Last week, Ole Miss fell four spots after the blowout loss to Florida.
Ole Miss received 158 points, which was 38 more points than cross-state rival Mississippi State. The highest place the Rebels received from our panel of SEC media members was third. Ole Miss was 26 points behind Alabama, which finished fourth.
The Rebels offense posted over 50 points for the third time this season on Saturday. Quarterback Chad Kelly threw for more than 300 yards for the fourth time this year, which tied a single-season school record.
Ole Miss will face the 5-0 Memphis Tigers next week. Due to the proximity of the two schools and the two teams’ records, it should be a fantastic matchup.
