Ole Miss will ring in the New Year in New Orleans.
The No. 12 Rebels (9-3, 6-2 SEC) will face No. 16 Oklahoma State (10-2, 7-2 Big 12) in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1. The game will kick off at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
Ole Miss filled the SEC’s spot in the Sugar Bowl as the conference’s second-highest-ranked team; Alabama clinched a spot in the College Football Playoff by beating Florida in the 2015 SEC Championship Game on Saturday. The Rebels have been steadily climbing in the Playoff rankings with dominant wins against LSU and Mississippi State to finish the regular season.
It will be Ole Miss’ ninth Sugar Bowl berth and first appearance since beating Arkansas 27-22 in 1970.
Ole Miss beat Oklahoma State in the Cotton Bowl in 2004 and 2010.
