It looks like one Ole Miss football player will have the chance to go pro in two different sports.
Ole Miss freshman A.J. Brown tweeted that he has signed a deal with the San Diego Padres. Brown was a 19th round draft pick in last month’s MLB Draft.
I'm officially apart of the San Diego Padres .✨

In addition to being one of the top prep baseball players in the country, Brown was also a highly coveted football prospect. Brown, from Starkville, Mississippi, was the No. 5 wide receiver recruit for the class of 2016. He ultimately spurned his hometown Mississippi State Bulldogs to play for the in-state rival Ole Miss Rebels.
According to Daniel Paulling of the Clarion-Ledger, Brown will play for both the Padres and the Rebels. Per NCAA rules, Brown will only forfeit his eligibility for the sport he signed the professional contract.
As a high school senior, Brown had over 1,300 receiving yards and was named the MsPreps Male Athlete of the Year.
