A disappointing recruiting period for Ole Miss got a little pick-me-up from 3-star linebacker Mohamed Sanogo (Plano, Texas) on Wednesday morning.
He’s the first player to choose Mississippi on National Signing Day, selecting the Rebels over UCLA and Mississippi State.
“Excited to announce that I will be spending the next 4 years playing football and furthering my education at the University of Mississippi!!” he tweeted.

He had plenty of nice things to say about Oxford when he spoke to Scout.com over the weekend.
“That place is really beautiful,” he told Greg Powers. “It is a beautiful campus. It has a real homey feel to it for a Plano kid. There are a lot of people from the Dallas area that I just knew walking around and that was kind of cool. There was a lot of people from around the Plano area like Frisco and McKinney.”
The 6-foot-2, 239-pound ‘backer was previously committed to Houston, but dropped the Cougars on Jan. 4. 247Sports.com lists Sanogo as the nation’s 20th-best inside linebacker, and the 55th-best player out of Texas.
