Reports earlier on Thursday indicated Kiffin had been offered the job. He has served as Ole Miss’ defensive line coach since 2011, and he also serves as the Rebels’ recruiting coordinator. He came to Oxford with head coach Hugh Freeze from Arkansas State, where he also coached the defensive line.
His departure isn’t the only change on Ole Miss’ defensive staff this week. The Rebels have reportedly hired Auburn assistant Wesley McGriff as their new defensive coordinator.
FAU hired the elder Kiffin as its new head coach Monday.
