Houston Nutt’s attorney reportedly is continuing his aggressive investigation of Ole Miss in a new way.
On Wednesday, USA Today’s Dan Wolken reported that Thomas Mars is pursuing records related to a burner phone in Yuma, Ariz., that appears “multiple times” in Hugh Freeze’s phone records.
Freeze resigned last Thursday shortly before information came to light that he made a call to a number associated with an escort service in Tampa, Fla.

By now, it should be obvious that Nutt’s attorney means business. On Monday, Yahoo Sports’ Pat Forde wrote an interesting piece about Mars in which the lawyer said he’s aggressively pursuing information about Ole Miss because “this isn’t junior high school.” Mars reportedly is seeking phone and email records from Ole Miss athletic director Ross Bjork as well.
Freeze ended his Ole Miss tenure with a 39-25 record in five seasons.
