The future for Hugh Freeze’s foundation reportedly is in question after the former Ole Miss coach resigned amid a personal scandal last Thursday.
On Tuesday, USA Today’s Brent Schrotenboer reported that the Freeze Foundation, which began in 2014 to help improve the quality of life for orphans and needy children, is pausing fundraising until the situation involving Freeze settles.
Schrotenboer spoke to the foundation’s executive director, Alice Blackmon, who said “the charity plans to honor its pledges and will reassess its future at the end of the year.” Blackmon told Schrotenboer that she took down the foundation’s website and Twitter account after receiving negative feedback following Freeze’s resignation.
“I was just getting berated,” Blackmon told Schrotenboer. “I am the only one who works for the foundation on a daily basis, so it was a little much. So I took that down.”
Freeze finished with a 39-25 record in five seasons at Ole Miss.
